Levitate’s Shipping Container Jib Crane is a practical and versatile solution for applications that require reliable lifting from a container-based support structure. It is well suited to lighter duty handling, maintenance, and service applications where a conventional free standing or wall mounted jib crane is not suitable. Depending on the installation, the crane can be supplied in two main mounting configurations: a container wall mounted option, or a slewing pillar arrangement mounted between the container floor and ceiling structure. To suit different operating requirements, Levitate can supply the crane with either an under braced jib arm or an articulating arm. The under braced option offers a straightforward and robust lifting solution, while the articulating arm provides improved flexibility and manoeuvrability in tighter areas. The articulating version can offer up to approximately 3,500mm of reach with a capacity of up to 200kg at that outreach. Each crane can be tailored to suit the container arrangement, available space, and lifting requirements, subject to structural suitability of the supporting container or container-based structure.

ARM OPTIONS

Under Braced

The under braced arm is generally the better option where higher lifting capacity and a simpler, more robust jib arm arrangement are required. Although the maximum reach is shorter, it is well suited to heavier lifting duties at the container opening and can offer better hook height within the available space.

Articulating

The articulating arm is better suited where greater reach and more flexible manual positioning are required. With a two-arm arrangement and additional pivot point, it allows the hoist to be moved more freely around the container doorway and provides reach up to 3.5 metres, making it a practical option for lighter loads that need to be positioned further from the mounting point.

MOUNTING OPTIONS

Wall Mounted

The wall mounted option is a practical and cost-effective solution where the container wall is of suitable strength and standard construction. Installation involves drilling through the container wall, with the jib crane mounted using a front plate and matching backing plate to help distribute the load. This arrangement is ideal where a simple fixed mounting solution is preferred and modification of the container wall is acceptable.

Slewing Column

A good alternative where drilling the container wall is not desirable. This is especially suitable for containers used as cool rooms or similar applications where wall penetrations may be problematic. The independent pillar support allows the jib crane to be installed without relying on the container wall to carry the main operating loads.
